Churlinov’s transfer to Burnley imminent

By Peter Vice

In the latest news on the ongoing Darko Churlinov transfer saga, German reporters Florian Plettenberg (Sky Germany) and Patrick Berger (Sport1) now claim that the VfB Stuttgart attacker is off to Burnley F.C.

The race between Burnley and RSC Anderlecht for North Macedonian attacker Darko Churlinov has apparently been won by the former club. Two reliable German sources working for broadcast outlets now assert that, despite the fact that the 22-year-old reportedly agreed to terms with the Belgian club, the EFL Championship side upped their initial offer.

Florian Pletenberg and Patrick Berger say that Stuttgart have accepted a transfer offer that tops €5 million with bonuses for the recently relegated English club. Churlinov is thought to be due at Turf Moor tomorrow for a medical. Churlinov himself has agreed to terms with the Clarets and is anxious to work with new head-coach Vince Company.

After a successful season last year out on loan at FC Schalke 04 in the German second division, Churlinov’s stock has risen quite a bit. Stuttgart had to hold very firm with Schalke over the course of the entire offseason as the Königsblauen very much wanted to bring the attacker in on a permanent basis.

Churlinov has played up top in both VfB Stuttgart competitive fixtures thus far this season, bagging an assist during his start in the Pokal round. He tallied twice and registered six assists during Schalke’s promotion campaign last year.
