Chief Barcelona summer target reminds director Deco of himself

Barcelona sporting director Deco sees similarities between himself and a player to have been hotly tipped to link up with the Blaugrana this coming summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Dani Olmo as the player in question.

RB Leipzig standout Olmo is of course widely rumoured to be on the shortlist of attacking targets drawn up by the brass at the aforementioned Barca with a view to next season.

Appreciated for his versatility, eye for goal and technical excellence, the Spanish international is one of a number of players to have been earmarked by Xavi as the answer to the woes on the left wing in Catalunya’s capital.

And, as alluded to above, it would appear that the appreciation for Olmo’s talents extends into the Camp Nou boardroom, too.

As per MD, director Deco is a keen fan of the 26-year-old, whom he sees as possessing many of the same qualities that the Portuguese did during his own playing days.

Deco views Olmo as a player boasting a similar physique and character to his own, albeit with his offensive output of a more impressive nature.

The ex-midfielder is therefore ready to throw his backing behind Olmo’s arrival, albeit with it remaining to be seen if Barcelona can get the necessary funds together to meet RB Leipzig’s steep asking price.
