Chelsea vs Leeds United prediction and odds ahead of Premier League clash

Sitting just a point from the top four spots, Chelsea will be looking to add pressure for the Champions League places as Liam Rosenior’s side welcome rivals Leeds United to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League

Chelsea will look to maintain their perfect Premier League record under Liam Rosenior when they welcome Leeds United to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening. Since Rosenior took charge, the Blues have strung together four straight league wins, a remarkable turnaround after going winless in their previous five matches (three draws, two defeats). This resurgence has featured notable victories in a demanding run of London derbies against Brentford, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United, and was capped by Cole Palmer’s stunning first-half hat-trick in Saturday’s 3–1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That result was the ideal response to Chelsea’s EFL Cup semi-final exit at the hands of Arsenal, with both legs against the Gunners representing Rosenior’s only defeats in his first nine games across all competitions. Chelsea now sit fifth in the Premier League, just a point outside the top four and four points ahead of sixth-placed Liverpool. A win on Tuesday would not only strengthen their Champions League hopes but would also see Rosenior become the first Chelsea manager since Maurizio Sarri in September 2018 to win his opening three home league matches.

However, Chelsea will need to overcome their recent struggles in midweek league fixtures, having failed to win any of their three such games this season (two draws, one loss), including a 3–1 defeat at Elland Road in December.

Leeds United, meanwhile, arrive in buoyant mood after a 3–1 home victory over Nottingham Forest last Friday, with early goals from Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin putting the result beyond doubt before Lorenzo Lucca’s late reply. That win allowed Daniel Farke’s side to bounce back from a heavy loss to leaders Arsenal, which is one of only two defeats in their last 12 league matches (four wins, six draws)—a marked improvement from their eight losses in the opening 13 games (three wins, two draws).

Currently 16th in the table and six points clear of the relegation zone with 13 matches left, Leeds will be eager to further distance themselves from danger with a positive result in London. However, their away form remains a concern, with seven defeats in 12 Premier League road games—only Burnley and Wolves have collected fewer points away from home this season. History is also against them at Stamford Bridge, where Leeds are winless in their last seven league visits, losing the last six, and have not celebrated a top-flight victory there since 1999.
