Chelsea looked on the verge of signing Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion after agreeing a £34.5 million fee for him.
But the move has now collapsed due to a major issue in finalising the Spaniard’s contract (per The Athletic).
According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have now turned their attention to Joao Felix.
With Omorodion’s transfer off, the two European clubs don’t want Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez deals to collapse as well.
Chelsea are currently locked in discussions for Felix as part of Gallagher deal.
The Indians splashed a huge £113m to sign the 24-year-old in 2019 after being impressed with his incredible development at Benfica.
But the Portuguese failed to justify his enormous price-tag as he struggled to perform on a consistent basis.
He joined Chelsea on loan in January 2023 and scored four goals in 16 Premier League games.
The West Londoners opted against making his move permanent in the following summer, but they are now looking to sign him in the current transfer window.
Felix is still very young and can be a success in the English top-flight. He is a versatile forward who can play as a winger, second striker as well as a centre-forward.
The 24-year-old showed glimpses of his quality during his loan stint at Barcelona in 2023-24.
In 30 La Liga appearances, he struck seven goals and contributed three assists.
Felix was also part of Portugal’s squad at the European Championship and featured twice for the national side.
