Chelsea target January move for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram

Chelsea are keen to sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram in the January transfer window, reports German journalist Florian Plettenberg.

After completing the loan deal for Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix, the Blues have now set their sights on Thuram.

The striker position needs more strengthening for Graham Potter’s side following the long-term injury to Armando Broja and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s lack of form.

The Blues admire the profile of Thuram, who can play as a No.9 and on the wings.

The French striker is one of the most sought-players in Europe following his stellar goal-scoring form this season.

The 25-year-old has netted 13 goals and four assists for Foals in all competitions and was also part of the France national team that reached the finals of the World Cup 2022.

Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter Milan have all registered their interest in Thuram, whose contract at Borussia Park ends next summer.

The Foals are determined not to lose the French forward in the winter transfer window, and so is the player himself, who wants to remain with the German club for the rest of the season.

Nonetheless, Chelsea are planning to submit an offer soon to Gladbach to lure Thuram to Stamford Bridge in January.

The west Londoners are going through a deep crisis at the moment as they are tenth in the Premier League table.

Not only that, Potter’s men are 13th in the number of goals scored in the Premier League this term, which indicates that the attack is a pressing issue.

Felix is tipped to fix the attacking issues and help the Blues get back on track in the second half of the season. It remains to be seen whether the Portuguese attacker could quickly adapt to the Premier League.
