The transfer team at La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to entertain bids for defensive star Jules Koundé as early as January. This comes amid serious interest in the Frenchman’s signature on the part of Premier League side Chelsea.
Stopper Koundé is for his part in the midst of what has been a challenging opening to the new campaign. After losing starter status to Eric García last season, the former Sevilla man is yet to rediscover his best form.
Koundé has long been singled out for criticism for his shortcomings on the defensive side of the ball, with his lapses in concentration a constant concern for Hansi Flick and his staff.
For this reason, despite Koundé’s professionalism and attitude having never come into question, the 27-year-old’s sale has not been ruled out by the Camp Nou brass.
As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto, speaking on DAZN:
“Barça are going to listen to offers for Koundé. Chelsea are already inquiring about him.”
In the case of Koundé being shipped out in January, the funds secured courtesy of his sale would be expected to be directly reinvested in Barcelona’s backline.
