According to a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Chelsea are set to sign Mamadou Sarr (19) from sister club RC Strasbourg Alsace on a long-term contract (although it is not yet known specifically how long it will be).
Negotiations between the two clubs – both of which are owned by BlueCo – are thought to be ongoing. Strasbourg are close to securing a €20 million transfer fee for a player they bought for half that amount from Olympique Lyonnais over the summer.
Strasbourg had acted quickly taking advantage of Lyon’s need to sell over the summer to secure the services of the highly promising centre-back. After missing the first three games of the season, Sarr has become a regular starter under head coach Liam Rosenior.
Mamadou Sarr set to be loaned back to Strasbourg
Despite the impending transfer, Strasbourg will not be without the centre-back. Sarr is reportedly set to be loaned back to the French club until the end of the season.
