Chelsea ready to activate Tyler Adams’ £20m release clause at Leeds United

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to activate Tyler Adams £20 million release clause in his contract at Leeds United.

The 24-year-old joined the Whites last summer from RB Leipzig in a deal worth around £20m. He made a positive start to life in the English top-flight, starting 24 of their first 27 Premier League matches.

But a hamstring injury in March forced him to sit out the remainder of the campaign as Leeds were relegated to the Championship.

The United States international is unlikely to join the Yorkshire side in the second-tier, with several top-flight clubs keen to secure his signature.

Aston Villa, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion have been linked with a move but the 24-year-old is said to prefer a move to Chelsea.

And the Blues are also ready to sign Adams by triggering his £20m relegation clause in his contract at Elland Road, per the Daily Mail.

But a move for the American is unlikely to end their pursuit of Brighton star Moises Caicedo.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have had several bids rejected for the Ecuadorian, with their latest offer reaching £80m.

The Seagulls are demanding a whopping £100m to let their prized asset leave, while the Londoners are hoping to seal a transfer for a lower fee.

Chelsea have already signed Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Angelo Gabriel, Lesley Ugochukwu and Alex Disasi in the 2023 transfer window so far. But they are expected to make a few more additions before the window closes on September 1.
