CHELSEA 2-2 LEEDS UNITED: Full Blues player ratings after Liam Rosenior’s side threw away a two-goal lead to draw with the Whites at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening
Chelsea threw away a two-goal lead to draw against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge in a big dent to the Blues’ race for a Champions League spot.
The hosts were outstanding in the first-half, leading through Joao Pedro’s clever finish after a fine pass from Cole Palmer. Joao Pedro then won a penalty for the Blues early in the second half after the Brazilian was pushed in the back by Jaka Bijol – almost identically to how he won a penalty at Molineux over the weekend. Palmer stepped up and sent Karl Darlow the wrong way for his fourth goal in two games.
Moises Caicedo’s foul on Jayden Bogle gave Leeds a penalty, and a route back into the game, with Lukas Nmecha converting from the spot. The Whites then found an equaliser after a chaotic scramble in the Chelsea box led to an unchallenged tap-in for substitute Noah Okafor to secure a point for the visitors.

Robert Sanchez
Sanchez had nothing to do whatsoever in the first half in what could have been some tricky conditions for a goalkeeper. Maybe could have done better for Okafor’s goal. 5.
Malo Gusto
Gusto picked up a bit of an unnecessary booking inside the first 10 minutes that put him under a bit of pressure. He recovered from that well, though, and put in a solid performance. 6.
Josh Acheampong
Good to see him used in his natural position – the first time he has started there since late-October. Did really well for most of the game but a bit of indecision in a dangerous area led to Leeds levelling. 5.
Trevoh Chalobah
Chalobah was tasked with a physical battle against Lukas Nmecha and seemed to relish it. The defender was asked to follow the Leeds centre-forward all the way back when he dropped to pick up possession. Didn’t make many mistakes for the hosts. 6.
Marc Cucurella
Cucurella’s first real sighting came on 17 minutes when he delivered a low cross towards Cole Palmer, though the Chelsea No.10 was not able to get a clean contact. The ball, though, was superb from Cucurella. The Spaniard was taken off at the break. 6.
Moises Caicedo
A needless penalty to give away. Really unlike him to make such a silly decision. Not looked at his best in recent matches. 4.
Andrey Santos
Santos made a really encouraging start, with a really nice piece of defending on the halfway line to block Jayden Bogle. That was just one of multiple interceptions he made for Chelsea on the night but it wasn’t just his work out of possession that caught the eye. Santos dictated the play for the Blues from deep. He is getting better and better with every game he plays. 9.
Estevao Willian
Estevao was the odd one out in many ways in the first half. The Brazil international has been excellent throughout the season but struggled to make an impact in the opening 45 minutes but looked more like himself in the second period. 6.
Cole Palmer
After scoring a first-half hat-trick on Saturday, Chelsea supporters were keen to see if Palmer has returned to the sort of form they know he is capable of. And it was certainly a promising start. Palmer played a brilliant through ball to Joao Pedro for the game’s opening goal.
Overall, it was probably the best Palmer has looked in a while in terms of his all-round performance. He was constantly calling for the ball and dictating play when in possession. Scored from the spot but missed such a sitter in stoppage time. 8.
Enzo Fernandez
Fernandez was used from the left, just like he was at Wolves, whenever Chelsea had the ball. But out of possession, Fernandez and Palmer would switch. Often dropped really deep to essentially be the third man next to Caicedo and Santos. Always looked for the line-breaking pass when it was on. Another really impressive display. 8.
Joao Pedro
The Brazilian scored the opening goal of the game at Stamford Bridge. A fine finish. He lifted it over the rushing Karl Darlow and made it look easy. He’s playing with so much confidence right now. 9.
Jorrel Hato (on for Cucurella 46′)
On at the half-time break for Cucurella. Did well at left-back. 6.
Pedro Neto (on for Estevao 64′)
Came on for the final 25 minutes – or so – of the match. Failed to make an impact. 5.
Wesley Fofana (on for Acheampong 79′)
Some minutes for the Frenchman. N/A.
Liam Delap (on for Santos 79′)
Couldn’t make the desired impact. N/A.
