Chelsea are about to engage in more meaningful talks with Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has informed GiveMeSport.
The 22-year-old is also a key target for Arsenal this month, but their London rivals are now making a real push to sign him.
Chelsea transfer news – Mykhailo Mudryk
Sky Sports reported on Thursday morning that Chelsea are considering making a bid for Mudryk.
The same outlet, however, claims that Arsenal are confident that they can agree a deal with Shakhtar for the Ukrainian.
Regarding how much Mudryk could cost, Shakhtar are said to value their prized asset at £85m.
The Gunners have already had a £55m bid for the attacker rejected, and Chelsea now look ready to pounce on their failure to reach an agreement with the Pitmen.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Mykhailo Mudryk and Chelsea?
According to Jacobs, Chelsea will now hold more discussions with Mudryk. However, the journalist has also stated that, as things stand, the player does not want to move to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to GMS on Thursday afternoon, Jacobs said: “Chelsea are about to engage in more meaningful talks with Mykhailo Mudryk, which means that the situation is quite fluid.
“Now, Mykhailo Mudryk doesn’t want Chelsea, but Shakhtar want the biggest fee possible, so we’re going to have to wait and see whether or not the Chelsea talks influence anything. But, as things stand, Arsenal are sticking to their guns and their price.”

Who could Mykhailo Mudryk replace at Chelsea?
There is still clearly a lot of work to do if Chelsea are to sign Mudryk. But should they manage to land the Ukraine international, it could push the likes of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech out of Graham Potter’s squad.
The two wingers have not had too much game time this season, so the arrival of another winger could be problematic for both.
As per WhoScored, Pulisic has made 15 appearances in the Premier League so far, but only five of those have actually been starts.
As for Ziyech in the current top-flight campaign, the Morocco international has been named in the Blues’ first XI on just one occasion.
If Chelsea do win the race for Mudryk, it would not be a shock to see at least one of the two leave the Premier League outfit this month.
It is set to be a busy January at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea recently confirming the signing of defender Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco.
