Chelsea are ‘hoping to move fast’ in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Yousoufa Moukoko, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has informed GiveMeSport.
The 18-year-old is one of the most in-demand stars heading into the January transfer window as his current contract is due to expire next summer, meaning he could be available in a cut-price deal.
Chelsea transfer news – Youssoufa Moukoko
Reliable Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has stated that Chelsea are ‘seriously pushing’ for Moukoko after holding ‘concrete talks’ about the numbers involved in a potential deal.
And BILD then claimed that the teenager’s future at Dortmund may be in doubt as he is demanding a salary of €7 million-plus while the Bundesliga outfit are only willing to offer €6m.
However, Moukoko has denied those claims, stating that he will ‘never accept such a lie’ and that his ‘full focus’ is on completing the season with his boyhood club.
“I will never accept such a lie and I’m still shocked; it’s a shame,” he said. “My full focus is on the second half of the season with Borussia Dortmund. I will never be bigger than the club”.
Several European heavyweights have been linked with a move for Moukoko, though, and BVB may be forced into his sale next month if he refuses to put pen to paper on fresh terms.
What has Jacobs said about Moukoko?
Jacobs told GMS that Moukoko’s potential suitors hold ‘all of the cards’ at this moment in time due to his contract situation and that they are hoping he doesn’t commit his future to Dortmund.

He said: “Right now, the suitors have got all of the cards because they know that Dortmund are sweating a little bit over whether he’s going to sign (a new contract).
“If he signs, that completely flips and suddenly Dortmund have all of the control, which is why one or two like Chelsea are hoping to move fast now to get that buy-in from the player to understand definitively that he might not sign and then they can proceed a lot quicker than if he does sign.”
Where would Moukoko fit in at Chelsea?
Moukoko is an out-and-out centre-forward who, despite his tender years, has already racked up 11 goals and eight assists in 59 appearances for Dortmund.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter only has an ageing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to call upon upfront at present after Armando Broja was ruled out for the season with an ACL injury.
And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed in a recent column for CaughtOffside that the capital club will ‘actively’ search for a new forward following Broja’s fitness setback.
Moukoko certainly has the right profile to be able to fill that void at Stamford Bridge, and he could be another astute acquisition for Chelsea should he make the switch.
