Chelsea make enquiry for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak

Chelsea are making a bold move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, one of the hottest properties in the Premier League.

Reports from the Daily Mail suggest the Blues have approached Newcastle to express their interest in signing the Swedish international.

Landing Isak wouldn’t be cheap for Chelsea. They will likely need to spend beyond the £115 million club transfer record fee they paid to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Isak’s stock has skyrocketed since his move to Newcastle in 2022.

The 24-year-old bagged 25 goals in 40 games across all competitions last season, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with.

His 21 Premier League goals were only bettered by Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (22) and Manchester City’s Erling Braut Haaland (27), cementing his status as one of the best finishers in the country.

Injuries hampered his first season at St James’ Park, but his talent shone through in the following year, and he has been a consistent performer for the Magpies since shaking off his niggles.

While Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is keen to keep his star players, including Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, the club has acknowledged that no player is untouchable as they strive to adhere to the strict financial regulations.

Isak has four years left on his contract with the Magpies, but talks of a new deal have surfaced, although there’s no confirmation of a signed agreement yet.
