Chelsea are keeping a close eye on the situation of Achraf Hakimi at Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report from The Athletic.
Following the recent completion of the club’s takeover, Chelsea are expected to be busy in the upcoming market as they look to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.
The west Londoners were linked with a move for Hakimi prior to his switch from Serie A outfit Inter Milan to Parc des Princes last year.
Having already lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, Thomas Tuchel could also wave goodbye to Marcos Alonso as well as Cesar Azpilicueta which would leave him short of options in the full-back areas.
Chelsea’s form dipped significantly when Reece James and Ben Chilwell missed huge chunks of the just-concluded campaign through injury so signing high-quality reinforcements would be a welcome boost.
Sergino Dest has also been discussed as a potential target since the turn of the year with the 21-year-old capable of playing on both flanks which makes him an attractive option.
Hakimi’s name has also reappeared on The Blues’ radar and a move could finally materialise as French journalist Daniel Riolo claimed back in March that the Moroccan wants to leave PSG amid rumours of a row with the South American contingent at the club.
“Hakimi is going crazy, the South Americans don’t talk to him anymore,’ Riolo told the After Foot show on RMC Sport.
“He already wants to leave Paris, he is fed up – In this team, his qualities have never exploded, so maybe you have to give him up.
“I criticised Hakimi for his fluctuating form, but it must be said that in this team he struggles to express his qualities.
“He is angry and that’s normal, he can’t take it anymore.”
