Express mentioned that Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar, this summer. It has also been mentioned that to cut out on paying a huge sum the Blues might offer Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a swap deal.
Skriniar’s Campaign For Inter Milan This Season
Milan Skriniar has enjoyed a solid campaign at the heart of Inter’s backline. He has managed to produce impressive displays at the defensive third of the field. He has scored four goals over 48 appearances this season across all fronts.
The Slovakian sensation has been a key player for the Italian side. He has been a consistent performer after averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 2.5 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has been more than impressive when distributing the ball from the back, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 92.9% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
What Will Skriniar Bring To Chelsea And Should Tuchel Go All In?
Milan Skriniar is a good tackler of the ball; he is usually quick on clearing the danger when the opposition is on the front foot. He remains proficient at playing his way out from the back, as evident by his pass success rate. Standing at 1.87m, he is a towering presence inside his half, and this also allows him to win a few aerial duels from the opposition. He can also make a few solid tackles to secure the ball back for his team.
The Slovakia International will take the place of Antonio Rudiger and he will no doubt enhance the quality of Chelsea’s defence. He can add more depth and balance to Tuchels defence and we could see a beautiful partnership with Thiago Silva at the defensive third of the field.
At 27, Skriniar is only going to get better with each season and could help Chelsea become the European champions yet again. Thomas Tuchel would be wise to go all in, and if the deal comes through, we could see him at Stamford Bridge ahead of the next season.
