Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella, according to Sky Sports.
The Stamford Bridge outfit are reportedly willing to pay the £50m asking price for the 24-year-old. Manchester City were also interested in signing Cucurella but would not meet Brighton’s price.
The Seagulls had previously rejected a £30m bid from City, who want to replace left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko after he joined Arsenal.
Chelsea have now moved for the exciting left-back with Marcos Alonso’s future in doubt. Barcelona want to sign the 31-year-old this summer as well as Chelsea captain César Azpilicueta.
Cucurella, who has four years left on his deal with Brighton, handed in a transfer request on Friday. Chelsea are now in pole position to sign the former Getafe and Eibar player.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have made two signings so far this summer. Raheem Sterling joined for £47.5m from City and centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly moved to London for a deal worth £33m.
