According to a report from L’Équipe, Chelsea are continuing in their efforts to secure AS Saint-Étienne’s Mathis Amougou (19) before the transfer window shuts tonight in France at midnight.
Chelsea have been known to be interested in the midfielder for the past few weeks. However, they have been unable as of yet to secure a deal for the talented teenager. Negotiations between the two sides are continuing, although L’Équipe writes that no precise figures have filtered out of the conversations.
Chelsea’s owners BlueCo have set a plan in place for the development of the France U20 international. If they can reach an agreement with Saint-Étienne they will send the midfielder out on loan to their sister club RC Strasbourg Alsace so that he can continue his progress in Ligue 1.
Amougou has gained some significant game time for Les Verts this season and was a regular starter for the first few months of the season under previous head coach Olivier Dall’Oglio.
