Chelsea complete €20m move for another South American gem after Estevao Willian

Chelsea have reportedly completed the signing of Gabriel Mec from Gremio.

According to Rádio Imortal, a deal worth in excess of €20 million has been closed between the two clubs for the youngster.

Born in 2008, Gabriel Mec is yet to earn his first-team debut for Gremio but has shown great promise with his displays for the youth side.

He has featured in six matches in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship so far, with a goal to his name.

Mec’s performances have attracted attention from the likes of Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, but it looks Chelsea have won the race for the South American gem.

The Blues have also secured the services of Palmeiras prodigy Estevao Willian who will join the club next summer.

The 17-year-old is one of the most exciting talents to emerge from Brazil. He is known for his electric pace and dribbling skills, and has already made 31 senior appearances for Palmeiras and scored five goals.

Manager Enzo Maresca will be looking to revive the fortunes of the West Londoners who finished a lowly sixth in the Premier League last season.

The Italian boss has added several top talents to his squad but their pre-season results haven’t been very encouraging.

Chelsea lost 4-2 to Manchester City in their latest friendly in the US, with Erling Haaland bagging a superb hat-trick.

They also fell to a 4-1 defeat to Celtic but won 3-0 against Mexican side Club America.
