In a recent report, talkSPORT stated that Chelsea are the favourities to recruit Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. It has been mentioned that the Blues are eyeing a move to secure the signature of the Barca speedster.
Dembele’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football
Dembele is having a productive campaign at the Nou Camp as he has put in a series of influential displays for Barca out on the flanks. The 25-year-old has banged in two goals and secured 13 assists in 32 matches for the Catalan club this season in all competitions.
The 27-time France international has proven his worth as a decent wide player by averaging 2.2 shots, 2.1 key passes and 2.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been excellent when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, based on his pass completion rate of 84.4% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Dembele Bring To Chelsea?
Dembele has got decent pace under his belt which he can use to leave his marker to bite the dust in the final third. The French talent proved his worth as a decent playmaker in the recently concluded La Liga campaign. However, Dembele has to figure out a way to be more clinical in the final third so that he can add a few more goals to his game.
At 25, Dembele is about to enter his prime but needs to overcome his past injury problems if he intends to be a success story at a top club like Chelsea.
However, there are some concerns over whether the French speedster would be able to handle the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football if the Blues manage to get him on board in this off-season.
We can expect Dembele to bring a lot of pace and creativity to Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel‘s frontline. He could serve as an upgrade over Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner as they have both struggled to be consistent in terms of their goal-scoring last season. Thus, the Blues should consider trying everything they can to lure him to West London this summer.
