Youssoufa Moukoko has denied claims that he wants €7 million as salary from Borussia Dortmund. The Bild report claimed the club is offering him €6 million, but he wants more before renewing his contract.
In a post on Instagram (via GGFN), the 18-year-old responded to the claims. He asked people not to believe the writing about him, branding them lies.
Moukoko said: “A little about myself – please don’t believe everything that’s in the newspaper! I know it’s all part of the football business now, but even though I’m still young, I don’t let myself be pressured into making decisions about my future. I will never accept a lie like that about me.”
Moukoko added that his attention is on Dortmund despite the links to Barcelona and Chelsea.
“My full focus is on the second half of the season, and it is about Borussia Dortmund,” the German international said.
“No player is bigger than the club. I am and will never be bigger than the club and in the end, I’m only a small part of it. It’s really sad that you can bring something like that out into the world these days so that you have the wrong image of me, it’s really, really a shame because I’m still shocked by the report.”
Moukoko is nearing the end of his contract with Dortmund, and Chelsea is pushing to sign him. The Premier League club has positioned itself ahead of the queue for his signature.
Chelsea had an interest in Endrick but missed out on the starlet to Real Madrid. They decided to push for Moukoko, who scored six goals and registered three assists in eight starts this season.
La Liga giants Barcelona also hold an interest in Moukoko as they prepare for the future. However, he is closer to joining Chelsea, with whom he could sign a contract in January before joining in the summer.
Moukoko’s agent, Patrick Williams, gave suitors a boost in pursuing Bundesliga’s youngest debutant and scorer. He said Moukoko is not close to signing a contract extension with Dortmund.
