Champions League Review | How each Bundesliga faired & who they will play next

Bayern Munich

Result: Bayern Munich 3-1 Slovan Bratislava 

Bayern cruised to victory in Munich and finished in 12th spot. They’re seeded in the play-off round and will play either Celtic or Manchester City in the draw. Both ties aren;t straight forward but we all know that Bayern will want to avoid Man City. 

Borussia Dortmund 

Result: Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Shakhtar Donestk 

BVB have secured their seeded play-off position by finishing 10th and, more importantly, get their first win of 2025! Dortmund will play either Sporting CP or Club Brugge for a place in the last 16. They played the Belgium’s in the league phase and won thanks to a Jamie Gittens wonder goal. 

Bayer Leverkusen 

Result: Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 Sparta Prague

B04 are safely through to the last 16, finishing 6th. B04 will await their opponents in the Last 16 following the two-legged play-offs. Overall, it was a solid campaign for Alonso’s side, who can now concentrate on catching Bayern in the Bundesliga. 

VfB Stuttgart

Stuttgart 1-4 PSG 

Stuttgart were second-best tonight, but it was always going to be a tough ask. The Swabians bow out of the Champions League and will now concentrate on trying to solidify their top four position in the Bundesliga. 

The draw for the play-off will take place on January 31st.
