On Saturday, César Azpilicueta played the last 10 minutes of Chelsea’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool and the Spanish defender hit the impressive milestone of 500 games with the Blues.
The 33-year-old right-back was signed from Ligue 1 club Marseille for €8.8m in 2012 and since then has become one of the most solid defenders in the Premier League.
As reported by AS, the player later stated in a social media post that he felt pride, honour, and humility for reaching 500 games with Chelsea, and that he considers it a privilege to join such a select group of legends.
Azpilicueta is sixth on the list of most appearances for Chelsea, behind big names like Frank Lampard (648), John Terry (717), and Ron Harris (795).
While it appeared that the centre-back would join La Liga giants Barcelona last season, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly’s takeover ensured he stayed at the Stamford Bridge club for longer.
