Carlos Aviña favourite to succeed Paul Mitchell at Monaco

RMC Sport are reporting that Cercle Brugge sporting director Carlos Aviña is in pole position to succeed Paul Mitchell at AS Monaco.

Mitchell announced in March that he is set to leave the Principality club. However, before doing so, the Englishman, who as revealed by sources contacted by Get French Football News, has held talks with Liverpool, must first find his successor.

According to RMC Sport, Mitchell’s choice may be Aviña. The Mexican sporting director currnetly works at partner club Cercle Brugge, and frequently visits Monaco’s performance centre in La Turbie. His appointment would represent an element of continuity at the club, despite Mitchell’s departure.

RMC Sport add that Jesper Daland may follow Aviña in making the move from Belgium to Monaco. Sources contacted by Get French Football News first revealed Les Monégasuqes’ interest in signing the 23-year-old Norwegian centre-back in January. Daland trained with Monaco during the World Cup break, and even featured for the side in a friendly, but the inclination was always for a summer move.
