French striker Karim Benzema’s relationship with France national team coach Didier Deschamps has been scrutinised again in the public eye. However, according to Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, the situation is not affecting the player’s performances. The following was transcribed in a press conference attended by L’Équipe.
Ancelotti stated that Benzema does not talk about the subject at all, and taht it does not affect him. The Italian coach further added that he has a lot of respect for both Benzema and Deschamps, who played for him at Juventus in 1999.
“It’s a personal question,” said the Italian, “ I respect them both very much, Didier Deschamps also played for me (at Juventus in 1999). But it’s a subject Karim doesn’t talk about at all, so I don’t think it affects him, not at all.”
The Real Madrid boss also announced that Karim Benzema will play in their vital Champions League game against Liverpool on Wednesday, despite missing their previous match due to an ankle injury. Ancelotti confirmed that Benzema has fully recovered and will be at his best for the match.
