Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has provided an explanation for his decision to take star Blancos pair Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé off prematurely in the club’s meeting with RB Salzburg.
Real, of course, were back in action a short time ago.
Fresh off a pair of back-to-back victories on the domestic front, Los Blancos welcomed the aforementioned Salzburg to Spain’s capital, for a Champions League clash.
And, when all was said and done, cruise to another triumph is precisely what the evening’s hosts managed.
Owing to goals on the part of all of Rodrygo (2), Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Jr (2), Real emerged on the right side of a 5-1 result.
Post-match, boss Carlo Ancelotti, though, was nevertheless drawn on his decision to haul a number of his star performers off early on Wednesday.
And the Italian went on to provide a simple answer, confirming that:
“I removed guys like Bellingham and Mbappé early to give them rest for the next match.”
