Carlo Ancelotti Expected to Leave Real Madrid, 43 y/o Their Top Target

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is expected to leave the club by the end of the season, with Bayer Leverkusen boss and former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso their top choice to replace him, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

Madrid were recently knocked out of the Champions League over two legs by Premier League side Arsenal, with the Spanish giants struggling to lay a glove on Mikel Arteta’s side. Ancelotti’s men are now battling to try and win La Liga, but they face a difficult fight with Barcelona currently seven points ahead.

A Copa del Rey victory could help save their season, but once again, they will need to get past Hansi Flick’s side in the final, and Barcelona are undoubtedly one of the most in-form sides in Europe at the moment. Madrid are now planning ahead for the 2025/2026 campaign, and it appears Ancelotti might not be part of their future.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Ancelotti is expected to leave Real Madrid by the end of the season. A meeting to finalise his exit is expected after the Copa del Rey final, which takes place on Saturday 26th April against Barcelona.

It’s unclear whether Ancelotti will leave at the end of the season or after the Club World Cup, but it’s set to be discussed in the upcoming meeting. In terms of Ancelotti’s future, he’s currently Brazil’s number one choice to take over the national team.

Sources have confirmed that Madrid are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen’s Alonso as their top choice, while reports linking former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp are wide of the mark. Alonso is keen on a move to Madrid, and his agent, Inaki Ibanez, has already held initial talks.

There is no formal release clause in Alonso’s contract, but Leverkusen aren’t expected to stand in his way. He has an excellent relationship with CEO Fernando Carro and the rest of the hierarchy at Leverkusen. Compensation will be required to prise him away from the German club, but Madrid are prepared to pay it – likely in excess of £10m.
