Jonathan Burkardt has withdrawn from Germany’s squad.
Julian Nagelsmann’s preparations for the semi-final clash against Portugal faced another setback as Jonathan Burkardt became the next player to leave the squad due to an injury.
Burkardrt was included in the squad in the first place after Angelo Stiller departed for a similar reason. Nadiem Amiri and Yann Aurel Bisseck were the latest names to be chalked off from the mini-tournament earlier this weekend.
Nagelsmann decided not to call up another player in place of Burkardt. After a return to the pitch from a serious injury, the striker enjoyed his most successful campaign as he guided Mainz to a European berth.
