As reported via Florian Plettenberg, Brighton are set to sign Barcelona forward Ansu Fati on a season-long loan.
Since Brighton winger Julio Enciso has been sidelined with a long-term injury, the English side have been on the hunt for attacking reinforcement as they are set to head into European football for the first time in their history. This has led to them identifying Barcelona’s Ansu Fati as a possible solution.
The reigning Spanish champions are looking to relieve their current wage bill and with Fati now being out of favour at the club, it is a move that would suit all parties. Talks have advanced rapidly between the two sides and a season-long loan has been agreed, but there will be no future purchase option.
Last season, Fati featured 51 times for the Catalan side, scoring ten goals and collecting four assists. However, he would only be able to complete the full 90 minutes on just two occasions, often being deployed from the bench.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Fati is set to travel to England later today in order to finalise his move to Brighton. There is hope within the Brighton camp that the deal can be confirmed within the next 24 hours.
