Both “Sport Bild” and Bremen’s “Deichstube” website are both reporting that young striker Keke Topp suffered a serious ankle injury in a closed door training session on Wednesday. The 20-year-old may be set for a long spell on the sidelines.
The German youth international joined Bremen from FC Schalke 04 over the summer. After scoring a hat trick in his debut competitive match in the opening round of Germany’s domestic cup, Topp had some difficulty hacking it in the German top flight.
Though he still hadn’t featured in Ole Werner’s starting lineup since opening day, there were signs that Topp was finding his feet off the bench. Topp scored his inaugural Bundesliga goal in a match-day nine relief shift. He also registered an assist in relief on match-day 10.
