AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement in principle with Rennes to sign club captain Adrien Truffert (23), according to a report this Monday from Le Parisien. The Belgium-born France international left-back is set to put pen to paper over a five-year contract with the Cherries.
The outlet understands that the final stumbling blocks have been raised, which will allow Truffert to fly to England to complete his move with the Premier League side. Rennes reportedly rejected at least two bids from Bournemouth.
The Ligue 1 club’s expectations have finally been met when the Premier League side submitted a bid around the €17m mark, taking into account performance-related add-ons. A sell-on percentage fee clause on future profit has been included in Truffert’s deal.
Truffert would have entered his final contract year with his formative club. Rennes reportedly wanted him to renew, but the 23-year-old feels the time has come for him to pursue his career elsewhere. AFC Bournemouth were in the market for a left-back following Liverpool’s interest in Milos Kerkez.
