Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Tim Kleindienst: “I’m proud of this team.”

After enduring a difficult start to their Bundesliga campaign with three defeats from their opening four games, Borussia Mönchengladbach have improved of late with just one defeat in their last six league games. Each week we’re seeing an improvement in Gerardo Seoane’s side and in the Topspiel on Saturday, Die Fohlen secured a hard-earned point against RB Leipzig.

Tim Kleindienst, a summer arrival from Heidenheim, had an excellent opportunity to put his side 1-0 up at the Red Bull Arena, his big chance thwarted by Péter Gulácsi.

The 29-year-old, who recently made his Germany debut under Julian Nagelsmann, has scored seven Bundesliga goals this season and is noticing an improvement in the squad, but also identified where Gladbach need to improve on after the international break.

“We’re struggling a bit with our chances,” Kleindienst told reporters. “From our point of view, it’s good that we didn’t lose here and got a point. We can be happy with that.

“We said during the break that we wanted to keep playing like that, but it was clear that there would be a period of pressure. It wasn’t so clear that it would last 40 minutes.

“But it’s important that we endured it and played it to the end. I’m proud of the team.”
