According to Sky Germany, there has been no breakthrough in the talks for Yann Sommer with the deal still having the potential to fall through, despite the Swiss international wanting to join Bayern Munich.
Sommer remains Bayern’s number one target to replace the injured Manuel Neuer. However, Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach Daniel Farke is pushing the club to keep Sommer. When asked about whether Sommer would play in the second half of the season Farke replied with a strong “yes.” Gladbach will only release Sommer if they can find a replacement.
Jonas Omlin of Montpellier is viewed as a successor for Sommer at Gladbach but would cost €10m this month, in the summer he would cost between €3-4 million. Bayern also won’t pay €10m for Sommer as they value him at around €5m.
The deal remains in deadlock and Bayern have already left for their winter training camp in Doha.
