Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach have found the man who could replace Manu Koné at the club in Montpellier’s Joris Chotard.
Koné’s contract was recently extended until 2026 but it is known that he will leave the club but it is open which transfer window he will leave in. Gladbach’s aim is that they sell Koné in the summer but if they receive a big offer in the winter they will allow the 22-year-old to leave.
Montpellier’s Chotard is the chosen successor for his compatriot and Gladbach have continued to scout the 22-year-old for several months. It is possible that the midfielder could even join Gladbach as early as the January transfer window. Chotard’s current contract expires in 2025 at the French club but Gladbach are able to afford the fee for him, the 22-year-old is currently valued at €9m according to transfermarkt.
Gladbach’s captain Jonas Omlin is one of the biggest advocates for Chotard to join as he previously played with the midfielder at Montpellier.
