According to Bild, Borussia Mönchengladbach have identified two strikers who they want should Marcus Thuram depart from the club. The 25-year-old is linked with a whole host of big European teams including Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Atlético Madrid, Sevilla FC, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa. It’s expected that the Frenchman will depart from Gladbach this winter.
Having scored 10 goals and provided three assists so far this campaign, Thuram’s price will only go up. The club’s sporting director Roland Virkus is very much aware of this striker’s links to other clubs and has prepared for his departure. “It’s important to weigh things up carefully and react well. Of course, we have already scouted a lot and are prepared for everything,” the 55-year-old explained.
As per the report, the favourite to replace Thuram is Dion Drena Beljo (20) from NK Osijek in Croatia. The club have monitored the tall forward many times who has scored 8 goals in 16 league appearances this season.
The other player is Vangelis Pavlidis (24) who is currently playing in the Netherlands for AZ Alkmaar and the Greek national team. With a market value of €7.5m, Gladbach could make a bid of around €10m for the forward. However, Alkmaar will be reluctant to let him go.
