Sky Germany reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach have held initial talks with Bochum’s Brazilian left-back Bernardo.
It is worth noting these talks have only been initial and no agreement has been made yet as Gladbach continues to sound out the market for a left-back and have other candidates of interest to them.
Bernardo’s current contract at Bochum expires in 2026 and the 29-year-old is interested in moving to Borussia Park.
Last season was one of Bernardo’s best from a personal standpoint as statistically, he was one of the best left-backs in the league, despite finishing in the relegation playoff with Bochum. In his first season back in the Bundesliga, the former RB Leipzig defender played 33 times.
This would be the second Bochum player that Gladbach has signed this summer as earlier on they brought in Kevin Stöger on a free transfer. The Austrian was, like Bernardo, statistically one of the best players in his position in the league.
