On Friday, Borussia Mönchengladbach have announced that they are the sixth team in German football to reach 100,000 members.
The club has provided some stats behind the membership numbers. 46 of them come from different countries with the most outside of Germany being neighbours Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. The average age of a member is 38.74 years old. The average length of a membership so far has been 9.76 years and 38 people have held a membership at the club for over 50 years.
The other teams to have reached 100,000 members are Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, 1.FC Köln and most recently Eintracht Frankfurt.
VfB Stuttgart are the team that is likely to reach the 100,000 milestone next as they currently sit at around 80,000 members.
Although Gladbach’s league season has been poor, the club have performed well in the DFB Pokal and with a draw against Saarbrücken there is a real chance that Gladbach can make the final in Berlin with the significant lack of Bundesliga rivals left in the competition.
