Kicker reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach prospect Can Armando Güner has agreed to terms with Galatasaray Istanbul. The versatile 17-year-old attacking talent has received a great deal of German media coverage in recent weeks after leading the Gladbach U19s to the German B-Junior Championship and representing Argentina at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
Who is Can Armando Güner?
Interestingly enough, Güner hails from very same hometown that produced current red-hot German phenom Said El Mala of FC Köln. Whereas Krefeld-native El Mala initially found himself rejected by Gladbach, Güner settled in very well at the BMG academy some six years ago. Güner briefly worked in Schalke’s famed “Knappenschmiede”.
Güner represented Germany at U17 level before switching to Argentina. His impending move to Turkey likely has something to do with interest from the Turkish federation as well. Güner is eligible to represent all three countries internationally and surely remains acutely aware of his status as a hot young commodity.
Will Gladbach receive compensation?
Kicker claims the Westphalians will pocket a transfer fee in the low-six-figure range if the two parties can agree to a January transfer. Güner can also move to Galatasaray in the summer as he sits on an expiring contract. The little bit of cash earned by the Niederrheiner unfortunately won’t help much with their meager January transfer window budget.
