Bundesliga duo Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hoffenheim are interested in signing Uruguayan forward Maxi Gómez from Valencia, according to Sky Germany.
Talks have already taken place but at a reported €12m, Gómez is too expensive for both Gladbach and Hoffenheim. Premier League clubs Everton and Newcastle United have also shown an interest in the 26-year-old, as have Fenerbahce.
Gómez played just 16 minutes against Girona last weekend, and since his move from Celta Vigo in 2019, has scored 22 and created 12 in 107 games across all competitions.
Speaking in a press conference prior to their Bundesliga game on Friday night, Gladbach head coach Daniel Farke confirmed that he and sporting director Roland Virkus are working on signing a striker before the September 1 deadline – BMG have also looked into the possibility of signing Dion Drena Beljo (20) from NK Osijek and Franck Honorat (26) from Stade Brestois.
“So Roland Virkus and I aren’t hiding the fact that we’re looking at potential signings. Any decision has to make sense though,” said Farke.
