Speaking ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Bundesliga game against Hertha Berlin on Friday, head coach Daniel Farke has confirmed that they’re in the market to strengthen their offensive positions.
“We don’t have a particularly large number of players in the offensive positions,” said Farke. “So Roland Virkus and I aren’t hiding the fact that we’re looking at potential signings. Any decision has to make sense though.”
Both Jonas Hofmann (30) and Alassane Pléa (29) have extended their contracts with Gladbach but Breel Embolo has departed for AS Monaco. Marcus Thuram has also entered the final year of his contract but there remains a good chance that the Frenchman will sign an extension.
Borussia Mönchengladbach are interested in signing both Dion Drena Beljo (20) from NK Osijek and Franck Honorat (26) from Stade Brestois but have just over two weeks to complete a deal.
Die Fohlen started their campaign with a 3-1 win against Hoffenheim before conceding a penalty in stoppage time against Schalke last weekend, picking up a single point.
