Though it was seen as a done deal, Borussia Mönchengladbach may not be able to secure former boss Lucien Favre as their new head coach, according to Bild.
It’s reported that Favre to Gladbach is up in the air with French club Nice also trying to sign the Swiss head coach.
Favre managed Nice between 2016 and 2018 before moving to Borussia Dortmund.
Behind the scenes, Gladbach are preparing for the worst just in case they can’t get Favre to sign.
Per the report, the club are keeping tabs on Anderlecht boss, Vincent Kompany (36), who has a contract with the Belgium club until 2024.
The former Premier League winner has Bundesliga experience as a player thanks to his time at Hamburg.
However, it’s still reported that Gladbach are confident that they will get Favre. As reported by Florian Plettenberg, the Swiss coach prefers Mönchengladbach and all the contracts have been prepared, it’s just down to the details.
