The fact that Serhou Guirassy’s reported €70m release clause does not apply to clubs outside of Europe is now dictating the Borussia Dortmund striker’s future. Sport Bild reports that Guirassy’s professional representation is actively shopping the 29-year-old to unnamed Saudi Arabian outlets. Guirassy’s agency KGSMI is run by the Bundesliga professional’s brother Karamba.
The German tabloid, and other sources, report that Guirassy earns around €9m annually at Dortmund. The BVB forward can hope to earn twice that amount on the Arabian Peninsula. Guirassy’s current deal with the Westphalians runs until 2028.
At present, Guirassy is spending the international break in the Ruhrpott. The Guinean national team failed to qualify for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations and Guirassy saw no need to subject himself to long flights in order to partake in friendly matches.
Guirassy hopes to break out of a form slump during which he’s only scored two goals in his last 11 competitive fixtures. In his last Bundesliga match, Guirassy managed just two touches in the box during a 1-1 draw with Hamburger SV.
