Following an innocuous challenge with Hoffenheim defender Ozan Kabak on Friday, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is expected to be sidelined for around three months.
Bynoe-Gittens (18) suffered a shoulder injury and because the joint has been causing problems, the Englishman will undergo an operation, as reported by Ruhr Nachrichten. That means Bynoe-Gittens won’t play for Borussia Dortmund again in 2022 with the two-month break beginning in mid-November due to the World Cup.
After scoring his first goal for Borussia Dortmund in the 3-1 win against Freiburg, Bynoe-Gittens signed a contract extension until 2025. The former Manchester City winger has played 161 minutes of Bundesliga football across four games this season, putting himself into the limelight at the Signal Iduna Park.
Bynoe-Gittens becomes the fourth BVB player to be missing in the long-term. Sébastien Haller (testicular cancer), Mateu Morey (knee) and Mahmoud Dahoud (shoulder) are all sidelined for BVB.
On Tuesday evening, Edin Terzić’s Dortmund will host Copenhagen in the Champions League.
