According to Bild, 38-year-old Borussia Dortmund II head coach Enrico Maaßen is the favourite to become the new Augsburg manager.
Per Tobi Altschäffl, other clubs are also interested in Maaßen but only the final details with Augsburg need to be clarified.
Former Hoffenheim head coach Sebastian Hoeneß was also a candidate but is taking a break after being relieved of his duties at TSG after missing out on European football.
However, BVB II team manager Ingo Preuß recently told Ruhr Nachrichten that he expects Maaßen to remain as coach for the 2022/23 season: “For us, it’s clear that we will go into next season with Enrico Maaßen as coach.”
