As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Marco Reus is unlikely to feature for Borussia Dortmund against Mainz on Wednesday after he missed training on Monday morning.
The 33-year-old stopped training last week due to illness and wasn’t a member of Borussia Dortmund’s squad that beat Augsburg 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. A player that is expected to return is Emre Can, who completed an entire training session and is likely to travel to Mainz.
Thomas Meunier, who tore a calf muscle 10 days ago, also returned to training, but only light running duties as the Belgian prepares for his return.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for Borussia Dortmund on Sunday before Arne Maier equalised. Nico Schlotterbeck then gave BVB the lead again before Ermedin Demirovic levelled the game before the break.
Three goals in three minutes saw BVB take the lead again, only for David Colina to equalise for Augsburg before Gio Reyna scored the winner in the 78th minute.
