Speaking in an interview with Sportschau, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has reiterated that he would like to find a replacement for Sébastien Haller in the coming days.
“Ideally something should happen in the next eight to ten days,” said Watzke. “Although a really good solution is also difficult because the supply on the market is not exactly abundant.”
Watzke also stated that he doesn’t want to place pressure on Youssoufa Moukoko (17) to replace Haller: “Dumping everything on Moukoko’s shoulders might be a bit too much.”
With Borussia Dortmund having preference to bring in a striker on loan or a short term contract, options for Sebastian Kehl, Watzke & Co. are fairly limited.
Contact between Edinson Cavani (35), who is currently without a club, and BVB was recently established and further discussions are planned. FC Köln forward Anthony Modeste would also be interested in a move to the Westfalenstadion. Other names include Giovanni Simeone and Mauro Icardi.
