Borussia Dortmund will hold talks with midfielder Jude Bellingham after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to Bild.
Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed the club’s intentions when speaking to Bild TV.
“I think as soon as Qatar is over, we’re going to have a basic conversation about what he actually wants,” Watzke said.
“With him, with his parents, with whom we have a very close relationship, and of course, with his advisor. And then he should just tell us whether he wants to stay or whether he wants to go. Either way, we will discuss it pleasantly and reasonably.
“But we don’t have to pretend that the topic isn’t on the table. When the really big ones are there, we can’t afford to fight financially either.
“Jude is a wonderful boy who also has his fluctuations – we’ve seen that now but he is certainly one of the greatest talents in European football.”
Bellingham signed for Dortmund in July 2020 for €25 million and has become one of the brightest talents in world football.
The 19-year-old drives BVB from midfield with his tenacity and has been one of their key performers. He has contributed nine goals and two assists this season.
Since he arrived in North Rhine-Westphalia, Bellingham has played 112 games across all competitions for Die Schwarzgelben, scoring 19 and assisting 21.
Bellingham became only the third teenager to score in four consecutive Champions League games this term. He joined talents such as Erling Braut Haaland and Kylian Mbappe on the list.
He also has leadership qualities and has become the club’s third captain behind Mats Hummels and Marco Reus.
The former Birmingham City midfielder has become a part of the England set-up. He made his debut in November 2020 and has added 16 more appearances for the Three Lions.
Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are all reportedly interested in Bellingham.
There are rumours Dortmund will ask for at least £150 million for Bellingham, whose contract runs until 2025.
