As reported by Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with fellow Bundesliga side FC Köln to sign 34-year-old French striker Anthony Modeste.
BVB will pay a reported fee around €5m for Modeste, who will sign a one-year contract as a replacement for Sébastien Haller. The Frenchman will earn a salary up to €6m, a significant increase on his reported €3.5m salary at FC Köln.
Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said on Wednesday that he would like to sign a Haller replacement in the next eight to 10 days. The Bundesliga side also had Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez offered to them, but Modeste appears to be their man.
Scorer of 20 goals in 32 Bundesliga games last season, Modeste is absent from FC Köln’s squad to face Schalke in the Bundesliga on Sunday afternoon. He is expected to complete his medical and sign for BVB early in the coming week.
