Borussia Dortmund have this evening reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Carney Chukwuemeka (21) on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Patrick Berger.
The Englishman will undergo a medical with Dortmund on Monday with the player not in Enzo Maresca’s plans at Chelsea. Berger reports that Chukwuemeka to BVB is just a straight loan, with no option or obligation to buy. However, there is a release clause that is active in the summer worth £40m, which is valid for any potential suitor.
Borussia Dortmund’s pursuit of a new midfielder comes following an injury to Felix Nmecha. The Bundesliga side had also shown an interest in signing Chelsea’s Renato Veiga, who has since joined Juventus, and Manchester City’s James McAtee.
Die Schwarzgelben are also working on deals for Daniel Svensson and Rayan Cherki before Monday’s deadline. With the latter, it’s unclear as to whether or not an agreement will be reached.
