Borussia Dortmund reach agreement for free transfer of Ramy Bensebaini

Borussia Dortmund have sealed the agreement for the free transfer of Ramy Bensebaini from Borussia Monchengladbach, reports Florian Plettenberg.

The German reporter adds that everything is agreed between the two parties, pending the official announcement.

The Algerian left-back’s current deal was due to expire this summer, and his future had been subject to speculation for months.

Despite courting interest from clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, Benseibaini will join fellow Bundesliga rivals at the end of the season.

The 2019 African Cup of Nations winner has racked up 24 goals and seven assists in over 100 appearances for the Foals.

A top-quality full-back who is equally good at attacking and defending, Bensebaini will compete with Raphael Guerreiro for the left-back position at Signal Iduna Park.

The Portuguese international’s future has been hanging in the balance for a while because of his contract expiring in the summer, but recent reports suggest that he is leaning towards staying with the German giants.

Die Borussen will continue their talks with Guerreiro to reach an agreement over his contract extension.

Bensebaini’s Bosman transfer is a great piece of business for Dortmund, but it will be a huge loss for Monchengladbach, on the other hand.

The Foals have been on the decline over the past few seasons, and losing a top player like Bensebaini in these troubled times will not do them any good.

In addition, Talisman striker Marcus Thuram is most likely to follow Bensebaini to the exit door after declining the extension offer, with the Frenchman’s deal running out in the summer.

Gladbach have identified a set of replacements, with the latest name on the wishlist being Cincinnati FC striker Brandon Vazquez.
