Jamie Gittens (21) has played in every game for Borussia Dortmund this season, but the Englishman hasn’t travelled with the national team after sustaining an injury.
As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Gittens hasn’t travelled with the England U21 national team as originally planned after the FA confirmed that four players would be absent through injury. Although no information on the injury is given, RN further report that their query to Borussia Dortmund regarding Gittens has so far remained unanswered.
But it gets worse for Dortmund. Ramy Bensebaini was substituted at half-time as Algeria played out a 0-0 draw against Equatorial Guinea. The 29-year-old, after missing 18 games for club and country last season, was just working his way back into the BVB squad under Nuri Sahin, playing nine out of ten Bundesliga games this season.
In more positive news, Karim Adeyemi resumed light running duties earlier in the month and while the club will closely monitor the 22-year-old’s rehabilitation, it’s certainly promising for the German forward who has scored five and created five in eight games across all competitions this season.
