According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund bosses are considering bringing in a new centre forward this summer.
BVB have been plagued with injuries over the past 12 months and the fact that they only have one fit striker is worrying those at the club. Sébastien Haller will need time to return to his former goalscoring self. With Youssoufa Moukoko out until April and Anthony Modeste looking like a wrong purchase, BVB are now willing to explore other options.
Head coach Edin Terzić sums up the situation: “We still don’t have a striker who has 15 or 20 goals under his belt. We’re working hard on that, with extra shifts.”
Due to this, sporting director Sebastian Kehl is planning on looking at new additions for the 2023/24 season.
For now, BVB are relying on Haller’s goal threat alone. Apart from Haller, Moukoko and Karim Adeyemi are the highest striker scorers with six goals each. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is third on the list with three. When looking at these stats, it’s a wonder how Dortmund are challenging for the Bundesliga at all.
